Málaga’s museums are gateways to art, culture and new worlds. Are you ready to take a step forward?

Historic Monuments - Most relevant monuments of the city

All it takes is a leisurely stroll through Malaga to travel through time and see its historical legacy. All over the regional capital you can explore the city's heritage, which boasts distinctive monuments with their own identity, such as the Roman Theatre, the Alcazaba, Gibralfaro Castle and the Cathedral of Santa María de la Encarnación.

Areas, buildings, paintings and sculptures that narrate the life and roots of a Malaga impregnated by each of the civilisations and cultures that have passed through it.

Art Galleries and Exhibition Halls

Besides its museums, Malaga's artistic offer includes a large and varied number of high quality art galleries. These exhibition spaces bring together and showcase all the local artistic talent. What's more, these cultural hubs are also a meeting point for artists and painting, sculpture and graphic art lovers, to name just a few examples.

This means that Malaga's galleries not only allow visitors to contemplate the works of art and chat with the creators, but also encourage art collecting.

Theatres

Whether housed in unique buildings or in the open air; classical, modern, avant-garde or alternative; suitable for adult audiences, children or the whole family, Malaga has a wide network of theatres with a diverse programme that includes performing arts, all kinds of music and dance. Some of these venues hold specific annual events, such as jazz, dance or classical music, or events such as the Malaga Festival.

Cinemas

If you love films and you are the kind of traveller who likes to explore the cinemas in the cities you visit, then Malaga has many options for you, some of which are very special. Leisure is part of the city's character. You'll find everything from traditional cinemas to places where films are shown in their original version and others where, as well as watching a film, you can enjoy alternative activities and even a food truck.

Viewpoints

Malaga has places where you can admire the city from a different angle. The views from the different viewpoints scattered throughout the capital will not fail to impress you. The options are as varied as the views you can enjoy from them, ranging from those located in historic monuments such as the Alcazaba or in areas such as the La Concepción Botanical-Historical Gardens, to privileged enclaves in the city's natural parks.

Málaga's beaches are part of the soul of the city. They are urban beaches equipped with a wide range of services and amenities. The city's 14 kilometres of coastline are interconnected by promenades, making them the ideal place for strolling, enjoying the local gastronomy, sports and many other activities.

La Malagueta, La Misericordia and San Andrés, in the west, or El Palo or Pedregalejo in the east, are just some of the beaches that make up the Málaga coastline.

You can choose between urban beaches close to the historic centre, such as La Malagueta or La Caleta, and other more secluded ones, such as Guadalmar. There are also some that look like indelible images of the city, special enclaves such as the Baños del Carmen or the Peñón del Cuervo.

All along the promenades that border these beaches, you can find numerous beach bars and restaurants, renowned for their authentic traditional Málaga cuisine, with iconic dishes such as pescaíto frito (fried fish) and espetos de sardinas (sardine skewers).

These beaches are ideal for sunbathing, playing sports, strolling or simply relaxing, and can be enjoyed all year round. It should not be forgotten that any time of the year is the right time to visit and enjoy them.
